10 quotes
Dog owners predominantly use ChatGPT and other large language models for researching pet-related topics, significantly more than in-site recommendation engines. This trend suggests that brands and e-commerce platforms should consider integrating LLM-powered interfaces to align with user preferences for personalized, conversational guidance.

“ChatGTP and Google Gemini. I think I mainly use it with the dogs when they're ill and just finding out what I can feed them or what I shouldn't and stay away from. And I also have a couple of chickens, and at times, they've been really unwell. So I've used it for a diet with them of what I can do to kinda get them back on track.”

“I use ChatGPT 90% of the time. I have a paid subscription service for it now that I I use for my work. I find that it's the most reliable and most fully functioning AI engine. It allows me to receive a variety of perspectives, and it uses a wide range of data to to inform itself. And I find that a lot of the information is very much up to date. I find it easy to work with, and I know how to get the right prompts as well.”

“I noticed that in a recent delivery, his food just appeared a little bit different in texture. And, also, it seems to make his breath smell even though I thought it was the same food. It does appear to be the same food, but I used to to see whether they had made any changes to the recipes or anything like that or what smelly breath might indicate. And it allowed me to explore a range of options before speaking to my vet if it became an ongoing issue.”

“Yes. I have asked ChatGPT about the different stages of my dog's life. So when she was a puppy, how often I should feed her, what sort of things I should be looking for with dog food, what vitamins and minerals were essential.”

“So I haven't specifically asked since I started using chat GBT, but if they they, it, if I asked it a question of what the best food was for my dog and I input loads of information about his age and preferences, and it it gave me an answer, I'd probably cross check it with the vet to be honest, but I would take that answer and proceed with it.”

“I think because I am most, confident with ChatGPT, I have used that for questions that I might have, about my dog. As a new dog owner, I just feel as though it's informing me and giving me the best possible advice. I would use other AI tools and assistance, but ChatGPT is where I feel comfortable.”

“Well, when I search for articles, I write, or rather, I often ask ChatGPT first, what examples there are that meet that standard. And then, first of all, I always look at the brands it tells me about, and only then do I possibly come across other brands that might not have been spit out by the AI assistants. At least, of course, I would say, that limit the search to the brands spit out by the AI assistants. And only then do I look on the individual websites for alternative products, which ones are also available for these very specific things. Often, though, I tend to ask about the type of product and then search further, looking for brands that offer exactly that product.”

“I use a lot of things really simply because I've used it for all sorts of things right from the start, and I think I get on really well with it. You can just write to it, and it makes things clear or the way I want it, simply because it knows how I want information these days. But otherwise, I use ChatGPT a lot. I write to it a lot. I give it all the information I have about myself that I want to share about my dog. And then he always helps me with the products, too. Even if I tell him that I want certain things in my product, for example, that it should have less grain, he usually only embellishes things for me that have less grain. Of course, you still have to check for yourself whether these products actually meet your expectations, because often the wrong things come across. But I'd say that's not the norm.”

“So I use ChatGPT the most. I have used Copilot sometimes, but I prefer ChatGPT, and it saves your conversations. So you can just go back to them. It kinda knows me now. It knows the dog's name. It knows my rat's name. You know? It's it's quite clever, really. So, yeah, I'm used to chat GPT, and I say it does it does seem to so called know me now, and it recalls certain conversations I've had around dog food, especially when Greta's been picky. Yes. He remembers that.”

“So one of my dogs has got trouble with anal glands and I wanted to know what I could add to the food to help with that because I wanted to add more fibre and what kind of things could I add to that. I also do check as well so if I'm eating something and I've got something to spare, for example if a tomato, can a dog eat a tomato, I always make sure I check and I use chat GPT to check those, and also just general advice really. So if I, my oldest dog she's got a few kind of lumps on her so I do ask about that. So general health as well. So it's mainly those three things.”
