Publish a Streamlined Makeup-Day Routine With Explicit Steps and Waits

21 quotes
On makeup days, users simplify routines—skipping dewy layers or extras and leaning on primer/SPF—to avoid heaviness, pilling, and movement (e.g., 3, 15, 20, 24, 25, 39, 41, 50). Publish a concise, numbered sequence (cleanse → fast-absorbing serum → thin gel moisturizer → dry-down → primer/SPF) with explicit quantities and wait times.

“If I don't wait long enough for my products to sink into my skin, there will be pilling or patchiness. I noticed that I do pill around my eyes if I wear eye cream, and I don't let it sit long enough. But I think that also depends on the product because there are some or there is one specific eye cream that I've used before where it has made my concealer a pill.”

“Yes. Maybe it is that the eye cream didn't dry fast enough or I didn't wait for the eye cream to dry. Because usually when I do my makeup, I start with my eyes first, So I don't give it much time for it to sink into my eyes. So maybe that is what makes it patchier pill sometimes. I don't use a heavy hand when applying makeup, so I don't think that it's the makeup amount that is doing the patchiness on the pilling. Might just be the timing that I don't wait for the products to dry in between.”

“Usually, in the mornings, I'm in a bit of a rush, so I don't wait too long. Probably, like, thirty seconds to a minute before I go into the next product or the next step of my routine.”

“Like steps. Step one, wash your face. Step two, pat your face dry. Step three, put a dime size amount on your palm. Step three, put it all over your face all the way down to your neck and your chest. Step four, pat your face until all the products will get into your face. Step five, let it sit for five minutes before you start your makeup. That's it.”

“I would say after you wash your face, pat your face dry, and then I would apply it like lotion. I would put a small amount, maybe like a dime size in your hand and just apply it all over your face, all the way down to your neck, to your chest, and just pat it with your hand until it is good in your skin. Wait five minutes, and then apply your primer or move on to your makeup. No need to reapply.”

“Thin layer for me is, it doesn't pill. It's ready to absorb more of the makeup like the pore, poreless finish products, for example.”

“I honestly don't really wait long. I would say a minute. Just let the moisturizer sit for a minute and then put on the sunscreen.”

“I use less product and wait longer before applying, the next step.”

“With the clear package guidance, the details I would want would just be specific amounts, and then step numbers, and also how much time to wait before applying the next step. So more specifically, the amount of how much of product I would need.”

“So when I get out of the shower, that's, when I, cleanse. And then sometimes I'll put the serum on and then get dressed before I do the next step so, like, the serum soaks in. But it really depends on, what's happening with my other family members, whether I have to just, like, move through quickly or, I have a little bit more time.”

“I would accept using fewer steps, so I probably would cut out using, a lot of the serums and acids and maybe use those every other day or not on a daily basis. But the cleansing, the moisturizing would definitely remain.”

“Well, I normally go by with the one at a one at the other. But two of my products is that you have to wait thirty minutes, and the other one is fifteen minutes. Today, I just don't have time to sit here and wait that long. So I just did it, like, fast today. But, normally, I will do the whole as one as ten to fifteen minutes, and the other one is thirty minutes. You gotta let it sit. So I normally try to make sure that if I would've woke up earlier, then I would've been able to do it, but I just don't have time to do it today.”

“Things that would make it feel more smooth and more effortless would be combination products. So not having to have steps so many steps sequentially or separated and sequential by, like, the product types. So if I had more combination products such as sunscreen and moisturizers together, serums and serums that have, like, a acid or whatnot. So they kinda moisturize, but they also exfoliate. Like, if I can combine steps, that would be easier.”

“When I'm doing my, when I have days where I'm wearing makeup, I actually don't use that skincare routine. I just do, like, a little bit of toner, and then I use my makeup primer, which is kinda like a sticky feel, kinda similar to what serum does. And then I might just use a tiny little bit of moisturizer. This one is the Daily Molecules sorry. Good Molecules is kind of battered and used up, but the Good Molecules, it's it's a lightweight daily moisturizer because if I'm using makeup, wearing makeup, I don't want to, like, take too much product under my skin because that affects the way the makeup looks and applies. So I try to do, like, minimal skincare on days where I'm doing makeup. And I feel like the makeup already makes my face look, like, pretty moisturized.”

“Well, I usually wait about a minute or two bees between each step, so just enough time for my skin to breathe and fully absorb the product. After cleansing, I pat my face dry and let it settle before sunscreen so my skin feels balanced and not damp. Then after the s f SPF, I like to give it another short pause maybe while I'm doing my hair or make making coffee so it sets properly and doesn't mix with my makeup. So those little pauses make everything layer better and last longer throughout the day.”

“The case I'd like to wear makeup over it, I generally wait maybe, like, I'd say, or five minutes, and then I'll apply the makeup on top of it just to make sure that it's all fully absorbed into my skin. That way, I don't get the pilling, the patchiness, the peeling. It doesn't really shine underneath it, I would say, because absorbs into the skin very well. So don't really have an issue there. And on top of it, I wear a really good, like, high profile, foundation and concealer so it doesn't really show through.”

“On makeup days, I usually just try to wait to make sure that my skin has absorbed the moisturizer. And, also, on makeup days, sometimes after I put, like, the Eustrine on my face, I may go back and literally just dampen certain areas of my face. So for example, under my eyes, an area where I apply concealer, I will still usually go back and just take the bottled water and just dabble a little bit of water underneath my eyes just so I feel like it can absorb the concealer better.”

“When I layer my products, I'd wait until they've been kinda absorbed or dried in so that they don't start to react with the next step or not do their intended purpose. So I just kinda wait a couple seconds after I applied it, make sure that it's dry, and then I move on to the next one.”

“On my makeup days, if I have moisturized properly, I typically don't have any issues with my skin in terms of, like, patchiness or, peeling or anything like that. If I moisturize properly and I give it just a couple moments to air out and breathe, once I apply my makeup, I typically don't have any issues. The issues only happen when I don't moisturize properly.”

“So I just washed my face, and I used the Cetaphil daily cleanser. And so now that my face is is cleansed, I will use the Eucerin radiant tone serum daily serum. I usually just use a pump or two, really just a pump at this point, and I just apply it to my skin normally as if it was lotion and just let that sink in. I do have age spots or sunspots that I want to fade over time, and given this breakout that I'm experiencing, I want to prevent any hyperpigmentation. And so that, again, was the Eucerint Radiant Tone daily serum. And then after that's absorbed, I will use the e. F, holy hydration face cream. This is a a peptide moisturizer, so that helps with boosting collagen. And since it is a jar, I will scoop out probably two pea size, one and a half pea size dollops. And, again, just applying that right over. And I like this a lot because it's nice and light, and I can use this in the summertime. And in the colder months, if I feel like my skin is dry, I can layer it it on layer it on. And so letting that dry, and then afterwards, I will put on SPF, and I use the BRA UV aqua riche. It's a watery essence SPF 50, and, also, we'll use about a pea size amount. But I also like this because it's nice and light. I just put that right over my face and neck. And that's it.”

“I definitely do think it makes a difference. I think I wait a little bit too long before, I do my makeup. I think you should do your skincare and then wait, like, ten minutes after or five minutes after till everything is fully absorbed, but it's not, like, dry like, completely dry so that your makeup goes on a little bit better.”
